Cuba's first Canadian Slo-Pitch "MVP" & champion

Ken Vezina  --  number 77 of the Kitchener - Highlander Team and pitcher for Team Canada    Feb 10-17/01 - Cuba

Pitcher, Ken Vezina, the quiet man on the team, broke his toe the first day in Cuba,  frolicking poolside and had to play through the Cuban games with the nagging, painful injury. Despite the injury, Ken played all the games, continuously encouraged his team-mates to keep their spirits up, held off the Cuban batters with steady defensive pitching and played a solid offensive game. Ken, batted in 9 RBI and 4 over the fence homeruns. Voted by the team as their MOST VALUED PLAYER.
